Job Purpose – overview

Your role as a Children’s Play Assistant is to ensure the safety and security of children in the soft play area whilst working as part of a wider team to deliver excellent customer service.

Core Accountabilities & Responsibilities

  • Supervise young children in a safe and secure environment.
  • Stop behaviour which could be dangerous
  • Respond quickly in emergency situations
  • Deliver excellent customer service and resolve customer complaints should they arise
  • Devise and participate in children's fun activities.
  • Undertake general administrative tasks to support the delivery of programmes and services
  • Conduct general routine maintenance and cleaning duties around the children’s play area to ensure it meets the required standards of cleanliness, security, and Health and Safety.
  • Process bookings and payments through cash and credit card transactions
  • Support the wider facilities team in promoting products and services
  • Promote products and services to customers and visitors

Essential Qualifications, Experience and Skills

  • Demonstrate good core competencies.
  • 2 standard grades or equivalent in Mathematics and English (or similar)
  • Suitable and sufficient face to face customer service experience, preferably working with children
  • Hold or willingness to obtain and apply knowledge/skills from Emergency First Aid qualification.
  • Hold or willingness to obtain, update and apply knowledge/skills from automated external defibrillator (AED) qualification.
  • Willingness to continuously develop and attend training and development sessions in line with your personal training plan, on occasion out-with your normal hours of work, to ensure the required level of competence.

Desirable Qualifications, Experience and Skills

  • Have obtained or working towards a S/NVQ Level 2 in Early Years Care and Education or equivalent
  • Successful study of a relevant subject at NC level or above
  • A working knowledge Health and Safety responsibilities, particularly in a children’s play area
  • A working knowledge/willingness to learn about the Charity’s policies and procedures/products and services.

Additional information

  • This post is subject to a PVG disclosure check.
  • Hours will be worked on a shift rota basis and is likely to include evenings and weekend working
  • You will be required to be aware of current Health and Safety Policy and to take responsibility for your own safety and the safety of others who may be affected by your acts or omissions at work.
