Did you know we are a Charity?

West Lothian Leisure (WLL) was established on 1st February 1998. WLL is a company limited by guarantee registered in Scotland with registered number SC 543017 and a Scottish Charity registered number SC027470. Our Registered Office is at Xcite Bathgate, Balbardie Park, Torphichen Road, Bathgate, West Lothian, EH48 4LA.

West Lothian Leisure is your local Community Leisure Trust and is a member of Community Leisure Uk.

All surplus income is reinvested to benefit local communities and provide services which support everyone in West Lothian to live a healthier and happier life.

We have invested over £14 million back into the Trust over the last 20 years, operating Xcite Venues and more recently Howden Park Centre and Polkemment Golf and Driving Range, as well as leisure facilities in local secondary schools. We are one of the lowest public funded trusts in Scotland.

In 2021, we won Gold at the Membership Experience Awards improving on our 2020 Silver award. West Lothian Leisure was the only Sport and Leisure Trust in Scotland to scoop awards.

The day to day operations of the organisation is managed by the Senior Management Team led by the Chief Executive, who is given strategic direction by a Board of Non-Executive Directors. There are 8 Directors on the Board (who are all volunteers) and they have ultimate control of the organisation subject to providing and operating the services in accordance with contracts, leases and funding agreements made with West Lothian Council and other partners.

The Board is made up of:

  • 3 Council Directors
  • 4 Independent Directors
  • 1 Employee Director

The current Directors are:

  • Sergio Tansini (Chair)
  • Beverly Greer
  • Suzanne McAdam
  • Craig Campbell
  • Gillian Hentges
  • Cllr Tom Conn
  • Cllr Danny Logue

In delivering its services as Xcite WLL works with many partners including West Lothian Council, NHS Lothian, West Lothian Community Health and Care Partnership, Creative Scotland, sportscotland and many Governing Bodies of Sport. In doing so we make a significant contribution to many of the outcomes in West Lothian Community Planning Partner's Single Outcome Agreement and to the Scottish Government's vision for Scotland where more people are more active more often.
