West Lothian Leisure and Enterprising Bathgate have partnered up to teach Primary School pupils in West Lothian how to lead a healthy lifestyle!

Pupils from Balbardie, Boghall, St. Mary’s, St. Columbas, Simpson and Windrowe Primary Schools are participating in a Child Healthy Lifestyle Course in order to learn how to eat healthily and become active. The programme is designed to encourage young people to become more active and lead an overall healthier lifestyle through educational and physical activity.

The course is based around the NHS Lothian ‘Get Going’ Programme and is delivered in three sets of six week blocks in schools over the year. The sessions are delivered by qualified WLL Xcite Get Going Coaches and Exercise Referral Instructors who create an environment that is both educational and fun.

Pat Kerr from Enterprising Bathgate said, "Working on this joint initiative with Xcite has proved to be very rewarding. We are delighted to hear the positive comments from the pupils and teachers participating in the programme".

Robin Strang, Chief Executive at WLL Xcite said: “We are delighted to be working again with Bathgate Enterprise to deliver this innovative project to the local Primary school children. Teaching young children the benefits of eating well and being active in a fun environment is a fantastic way to give them a good foundation to maintain a healthy living now and into their teen years and adulthood!”
