Angela McCowan is the Children’s Activities Co-ordinator @ Xcite and is running in the Edinburgh half marathon! Check out her story below.

'On Sunday 27 May I am setting out on my biggest challenge yet... running 13.1 miles as part of the Edinburgh half marathon.

It’s fair to say that I am most definitely a swimmer and running is completely foreign to me, I had never even completed a 5k before deciding to embark on this challenge.

However, over the last 12 weeks, I have been overcoming my hatred of running and have been training hard to ensure I complete the distance to the best of my ability. The hatred level has now reduced to dislike and is actually quite bearable now (some days)!

The main reason for pushing myself outside my comfort zone is to raise as much money as possible for Breast Cancer Care. Back in October one of my closest friends since primary 1 was diagnosed with an aggressive form of breast cancer just before her 30th birthday and so this my opportunity to show my appreciation to this great charity for their amazing support during this difficult time.

I understand that there is lots of fundraising taking place at the moment so please don’t feel obliged to donate, but if you would like to make a contribution to this great charity please find below the link to our JustGiving page.'
