West Space is managed by Health in Mind, a Scottish mental health and wellbeing charity, that supports people and communities across West Lothian.
Our venues offer more than just a place to exercise; we aim to provide an environment that nurtures positive mental wellbeing. Xcite venues provide opportunities for social interaction, stress relief and personal growth. Engaging in regular physical activity can boost mood, reduce anxiety and improve overall mental health which, in turn, creates a supportive space for you to improve both your physical and mental health.
Specifically targeting wellbeing, we offer a diverse range of classes and programmes that promote stress relief, boost mood, and encourages a sense of community. Join us to experience the positive impact these programs can have on your mental health and overall quality of life.

For kids aged 8-11 and their grown-ups, our Family Fitness Factory offers a fast-paced 45 min HIIT-style class that teams children up with their grown-up to exercise together and encourage them to do their best.
With workouts changing weekly, this is a great way to promote the good habit of regular exercise and the positive mental benefits of both the physical exertion and teamwork.

Our Xcite Academy coaching programme delivers group classes for several sports:
Starting from birth (Swimming), 18m (Gymnastics & Football) and 5 years old (Golf & Badminton), our coaches are trained to make your child's journey through their chosen activity a fun one. With exercise being a major factor in improving mental wellbeing, we understand that enforcing the idea of regular exercise being a good thing for children as well as adults and our coaching sessions aim to make exercise fun and allow children to thrive and make new friends whilst learning a new skill.

Aimed at young people aged 12-15 years, this activity is an introduction to the gym and it's equipment.
Following an induction appointment, you can come into the gym at your leisure and use the equipment* to boost your mood with exercise. Start your fitness journey for life as you mean to go on!

From football to karate, judo to netball, line dancing to roller discos.

NEW for 2025 - Xcite Women's Health Menopause & Perimenopause course.
Following the popular demand of previous sessions, we are delighted to announce a NEW half-day menopause & perimenopause course at Xcite Linlithgow.
You'll be introduced to the gym environment, where you'll explore the many benefits of exercise during this stage of life. The course also includes classroom-based activities, offering expert insights into common medical concerns and the essential role physical activity plays in managing symptoms and supporting hormone health.

The Xcite Ageing Well project is part-funded by NHS, West Lothian Leisure and West Lothian Council. The project is a Lothian wide initiative and is part of the UK Ageing Well network. It aims to increase the expectation of good health in later life with activities that improve physical health, mental health and wellbeing. The emphasis is on meeting new people and making physical activity accessible and enjoyable.

Widely known, Yoga is an ancient discipline concerned with developing a holistic, healthy and harmonious lifestyle. The practice can calm your overall senses towards life and the events of your day.
Xcite offers many different types of Yoga classes - different from the length of the class to the intensity of the movement.

As part of a range of Mindfulness-based fitness classes, we have this class available as instructor-led, virtual or online. It is a yoga-based workout with elements of Tai Chi and Pilates set to music.

Wiseones is a class focused on Yoga principles to improve strength, balance, cognition and a sense of wellbeing.

Another class that forms part of our Ageing Well programme for people over 50, Tai Chi is shown to have a positive effect on muscle strength, flexibility, and balance. Easy to follow, making it excellent for beginners and people who have limited time or ability!

The latest addition to our Ageing Well programme, seated yoga is a gentle form of yoga that can be done while sitting. Some poses can also be done standing using a chair for support.
By participating in such a class you can take advantage of the many benefits yoga provides, such as increased circulation; feelings of well-being; and decreases in blood pressure, anxiety, inflammation, and chronic pain.

Whilst physical movement and exercise is good for wellbeing, so is having somewhere to meet friends, have a coffee and a chat.
3 of our sites have cafes where you can sit, relax and even read a book if the fancy takes you - we have bookcases set up in all 3 cafes where you can choose a book to read in the cafe, take away and return at a later date or swap it for a book you've finished.
Xcite Bathgate & Linlithgow have our established cafes - Linlithgow has a pizza menu that is very popular!
Nourish is our latest cafe addition; located in Xcite Craigswood it boasts a smoothie menu, plus locally sourced coffee, cakes and other snacks. In the nicer weather, we even have outdoor seating!
The focus is truly on community - providing a space where people can meet and relax, spend time feeding the soul as well as the body.
