We’re looking for a passionate, proactive and hands-on Duty Manager to join our team within our Schools Estate.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced manager or supervisor who is ready to take the next step in their career, lead from the front and make a real difference to the customer experience and the communities we serve.
As Duty Manager, you’ll play a key role in the day-to-day operation of our leisure facilities, taking responsibility for people, programmes, facilities and service delivery and ensuring everything operates safely, efficiently and to the highest possible standards.
You’ll work across Whitburn Academy, Armadale Academy and Linlithgow Academy, while also providing support to the Xcite School Bookings Team.
You’ll be responsible for supporting the effective operation of our Schools Estate, leading and developing teams while ensuring customers receive a consistently high standard of service.
Your responsibilities will include:
Leading, motivating and supporting staff to deliver excellent customer service and safe, effective operations.
Overseeing relief staffing across the Schools Estate, including managing sickness absence and ensuring appropriate staffing levels are maintained.
Supporting the wider facility operation and deputising for the Deputy Manager when required.
Working closely with the School Bookings Team to increase facility usage and maximise opportunities across the estate.
Managing and resolving escalated customer complaints, ensuring issues are dealt with professionally and effectively.
Maintaining consistent Xcite customer service standards across all sites.
Supporting the development of underutilised spaces and identifying opportunities to increase participation and income.
Helping to grow income through special events, activities and new commercial opportunities.
Supporting programme planning and ensuring facilities and activities meet customer needs.
Promoting a safe, inclusive and welcoming environment for everyone who uses our facilities.
Ensuring relevant health and safety standards, procedures and legislation are followed.
This is a varied role that combines leadership, leisure management and hands-on operational experience, so you’ll need to be comfortable taking ownership and getting involved wherever required.
What We’re Looking For:
We’re looking for someone who is confident leading a team, passionate about customer service and able to build positive relationships with colleagues, customers and partners.
Essential experience and qualifications
1–2 years’ supervisory experience.
A genuine passion for delivering outstanding customer service and leading teams.
Successful study to HNC level, or equivalent experience gained through your career.
Excellent customer service skills with a customer-focused approach.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Good administrative and organisational skills, with the ability to produce professional reports and correspondence.
It would be advantageous if you also have:
IOSH Managing Safely.
First Aid at Work.
Experience of budget management.
Experience conducting health and safety audits.
Experience in programme planning.
Familiarity with leisure management systems.
