At Xcite, we value our pickleball players and know that you would like the same opportunity to book courts through the Xcite app as customers playing other sports.
The safety of everyone using our sports halls is our priority. As pickleball has grown in popularity, accommodating bookings on an ad-hoc basis alongside other sports has become increasingly challenging.
Pickleball requires specific equipment, set-up and take-down time, as well as appropriate court space to ensure it can be played safely when other activities are taking place. We also need to manage court availability fairly, so customers playing badminton and other sports continue to have reasonable access.
We have listened to feedback from our pickleball customers, reviewed recent booking trends and looked at how we can better accommodate the sport. This has helped us develop a new approach that allows us to offer pickleball safely and consistently, while making it easier for you to book and play.
What is changing?
From 5th October, we are piloting pickleball court bookings at Xcite Craigswood. You will be able to book individual pickleball courts directly through the Xcite app or online during the designated times below:

These times will be protected specifically for pickleball, and our existing pickleball social sessions will continue as scheduled.
During the pilot, pickleball at Xcite Craigswood will only be available during these designated times and existing social sessions. This means we will no longer be able to accommodate additional ad-hoc pickleball bookings by phone.
When booking a session, please remember that equipment set-up and take-down are included within your booking time. Our team will always try to keep any impact on your playing time to a minimum.
If you’re looking for more opportunities to play, Xcite Linlithgow also has a purpose-built four-court pickleball area, which can be booked through the app throughout the venue’s opening hours.
Throughout the pilot, we’ll gather feedback from customers and our venue team to understand how the new approach is working. If successful, we’ll explore whether designated pickleball booking times could be introduced at other Xcite venues.
