Linlithgow Loch Private Individual Loch Access Permits

Currently you can purchase Water Sports Loch Access Permits as private individuals by completing a short form below - scroll down.

Conditions of use

These are the conditions of use requested by Historic Environment Scotland to issue you with a permit. By submitting the Loch Permit Form you are automatically agreeing to abide by its terms. 

  • Confirmation that the craft is in suitable condition to be used on the Loch.
  • Confirmation that you are suitably experienced to ensure your own safety (including rescue) and that of others using the craft (e.g. SCA Two Star Award).
  • Confirmation that you understand that there is no safety mechanism in place and that you will put in place any suitable system in place (such as late back phone call).
  • Confirmation that you have checked the weather forecast and are happy to proceed.
  • Confirmation you hold a Third Party Liability insurance (e.g. Insurance policy document or SCA membership).
  • Confirmation that you agree to observe the Peel regulations and to fully comply with the conditions described on the permit.
  • Confirmation you fully comply with the use of Linlithgow Loch and the HES Code of Conduct.

  • Confirmation that you will assume full liability for your actions/inactions which may result in accident or injury to yourself, those in your craft or members of the public.
  • Indemnify West Lothian Leisure and Historic Scotland of any responsibility for any injury or accident and assume full liability for your actions/inactions. 

We require 72 hours advance notice of date of access to the loch. The cost of the permit is £4 per craft per day. You'll be issued an invoice for payment within 30 days.  

As the Low Port is closed at this time you be required to access the Loch via Town Bay Car Park.
