Will children be socially distanced during swimming lessons?
We are encouraging social distancing between the children in the lessons, however, guidance states this is no longer necessary. Our teachers will be teaching in a new way to enable this.
Why are the swimming lessons 25 minutes?
We understand the children have had a long break away from the pool and may have some anxieties about returning. Swimming stamina may not be the same as before so we are easing the children back into lessons. This also allows us to better manage the changing facilities and limit the number of people within the area while adults still need to socially distance.
Why are teachers advised to teach from the side, but parents are allowed in the water?
As social distancing is still required for adults, this includes our teacher contact with the children. To allow maximum pool space for the children in the lesson, teachers will only enter the water in the case of an emergency. In line with recommendations from Scottish Swimming, this is also viewed as the safest way to teach.
Parent and Child classes have been reviewed to allow more tank space to permit social distancing between the adults.
Will there be access to the spectator areas?
During Swimming Lesson for Pre-school, Swim Skills 1A and Swim Skills 1B spectating will be permitted (may vary at each swim venue). Swim Skills 2 and above we are asking parents to leave the venue and return to collect them at the end of their lesson. The Xcite Team will be on poolside to help your child during their lessons.
