Why are we making changes to our Opening Hours?

A recent review of our services has been completed including identifying times when the facilities are under used and demand is low. The updated opening hours better reflect usage. Priority of use has been given to the school. Active Schools will also operate 3.45pm-5.00pm in some areas.

Clubs already using the pool will continue to do so. Alternative public facilities are available locally at Xcite venues, 2 in Livingston, and afternoon/evening swim facilities at Inveralmond Community High School. The usage at both Community High Schools represents 15% of overall swim usage and 1% of gym across all West Lothian Leisure facilities.

Why the need to make these changes?

We are in a process of modernising our services in response to a combination of external forces, including increasing operational costs, and significant cuts to funding. The changes made are to safeguard our ability to continue to provide crucial sport, leisure, cultural and outdoor education facilities to the communities of West Lothian.

Did you know...

West Lothian Leisure is your local Community Leisure Trust and is a not-for-profit registered charity where every penny of profit is reinvested back into the organisation. No money is distributed to shareholders or any other parties.

Over £14 million has been reinvested back into the trust over the last 20 years to provide good quality services in West Lothian. West Lothian Leisure continually works with local partners, including West Lothian Council, NHS Lothian and West Lothian Health and Social Care Partnership, to improve the physical and mental health and wellbeing of the local community.

The Trust is one of the lowest publicly funded in the country, with 23% of income coming from West Lothian Council. Nationally, the average level of funding for leisure and culture trusts from their local Council is 47%.
