Swimming is available at 6 venues across West Lothian, with 20-25 metre pools as well as teaching pools for those learning to swim. Our Learn to Swim Programme has proved successful, with a range of lessons from Adult & Baby to Club Ready.
All our pools are covered by fully qualified and regularly trained Lifeguards and qualified First Aiders.
We ask all our customers to take the time to read through our Pool Guidelines - Lets Keep it Clean. This includes info on how to help keep our pools clean, know when not to swim and ratio and age restrictions on admissions. Lets Keep it Clean!
Public Swimming, Lane Swimming, Swimming Lessons and Sauna and Steam sessions are included in all Xcite memberships (age restrictions may apply). Water Fitness Classes are available with Premier, Young Adult, Student and POL Memberships. You can also attend as a pay-per-visit user.

Benefits of Swimming
Swimming is a whole body workout as it uses all the major muscle groups! One of the biggest benefits is that it truly works your entire body, head to toe. It helps tone muscle, increase your heart rate without stressing your body, build strength and endurance.
Swimming is also an effective way to burn calories, with one hour of low intensity swimming burning between 400 - 600 calories. Walking at the same level of intensity would burn roughly 100 calories less! By raising the intensity of the swim around 700 - 1000 calories could be burned through an hour in the pool.
Swimming is fantastic for injury rehabilitation too! If you are suffering from an injury and are frustrated that you can’t be as active as you would like, then swimming is a great option. The buoyancy nature of water takes pressure off the joints, while still providing resistance to ensure an effective workout. It is particularly good for people who suffer from sore back or knee problems.
