About Us

• West Lothian Leisure was established on 1st February 1998.
• It is an Industrial & Provident Society and a corporate body registered under the Industrial & Provident Societies Act 1965. Register No 2533R(S)
• The Society has Charitable Status granted by the Inland Revenue in Scotland. Scottish Charity Registration (Number SC 027 470)
• It operates as a Not for Profit Distributing Organisation, this means that no individual or group can benefit from any profit or surplus which the Society achieves. It is a Social Enterprise Company
• Any surplus generated is put back into the facilities and service delivery to maintain and improve the range and quality of the service
• The Society's Committee of Management is made up of;
  • 3 Elected Representatives of the Workforce
  • 3 Representatives of Users of the Service
  • 3 Representatives from the Business Community
  • 3 Elected Members from West Lothian Council

Scope of the Business

The Society is a Social Enterprise Company delivering public access sport and leisure management services for the communities it serves. It employs a pool of some 240 people who are either contracted as full-time or part-time employees, class instructors or supply employees for cover purposes.

Purpose

West Lothian Leisure Ltd is a social enterprise with charitable status, providing sports, leisure and learning opportunities, that enhance the quality of life and improve the health of the communities it serves.

It does this by working in partnership (in particular with West Lothian Council) to manage facilities, develop programmes that encourage active participation and by investing in services and facilities that contribute to the advancement of the above.
