National Pool Lifeguard Qualification

The aim of the qualification is to establish competence in pool lifeguard skills including water rescue and life support for personnel employed or as volunteers in the leisure industry as a swimming pool lifeguard. The syllabus covers the criteria laid down in the Health and Safety Commission publication 'Managing Health and Safety in Swimming Pools’.

Requirements:

        Be a minimum of 16 years of age on commencing the course

        Jump/dive into deep water

        Swim 100m on front continuously

        Swim 100m on back continuously

        Climb out unaided without using steps/ladders/assistance

        Surface dive to the pool floor

        Swim 50 metres in no more than 60 seconds

National Pool Lifeguard Examination

To maintain your existing NPLQ qualification you will have to complete this exam, you have to ensure that you have completed a minimum of 20 hours regular continual professional development. 

First Aid at Work Standard Course (HSE Approved)

A comprehensive 3 day course covering a wide range of First Aid emergencies and how to deal with them. You will learn First Aid skills to help you deal with everyday accidents including: administer first aid to a casualty with: injuries to bones, muscles and joints, including suspected spinal injuries. You will be able to recognise the presence of major illness and provide appropriate first aid including heart attack, stroke, epilepsy, asthma and diabetes. The course is suitable for anyone required to qualify as a First Aider for the workplace and any member of the public requiring a first aid qualification.

Emergency First Aid at Work (HSE Approved)

This course is a minimum six-hour programme (one day) for those people who wish to gain knowledge of emergency procedures and attain a recognised qualification in First Aid.

First Aid at Work Re-Qualification Course (HSE Approved)

This course is to include a revision of topics covered in the three-day programme, together with any updates that have been incorporated into the programme since the candidate completed their original course. Candidates wishing to undertake this training must provide evidence that they hold a current HSE First Aid at Work certificate.

Comprehensive Dumbbell Training

 

Pre-requisites Level 2 Gym

Content The Aim of Comprehensive Dumbbell Training is to provide a comprehensive overview for fitness professionals of the background and practical application of Dumbbell Training. Objectives : By the end of the course attendees should be able to: 1. Understand the theory of how Dumbbells integrate with other equipment and methodologies of training. 2. Understand the safety considerations and contra-indications associated with Dumbbells. 3. Learn hundreds of exercise variations and progressions for Dumbbell Training and how to select exercises appropriate for different methodologies of training (strength/functional). 4. Understand how some of the technique tweaks will affect the kinesiological adaptations. 5. Programme safe and effective Dumbbell sessions for individuals or groups.

Considerations for Pre-Post Natal Clients

Content The Aim of Considerations for Pre-Post Natal Clients is to provide a comprehensive overview for fitness professionals of the considerations when working with clients that are pre-natal or post-natal. This Workshop is NOT designed to rr

replace the Qualification, but to assist L2 instructors and above to help these clients undertake a safe and effective training programme. Objectives : By the end of the workshop attendees should be able to: 1. Understand better the physiological changes that occur during pregnancy and afterwards. 2. Understand the safety considerations and contra-indications associated with pregnancy and afterwards. 3. Overcome certain barriers to exercising with pre-and post-natal clients. 4. Group appropriate and inappropriate exercises in order to programme safely.
