Directors Details

Dr Cindy Brook, Chair

Cindy is a business representative and has been a member of the Board since 2005. She was elected as chair in 2010. She has worked in West Lothian as a General Practitioner for 26 years, combining this with being GP member of Lothian Health Board and latterly Clinical Director of the West Lothian Community Health and Care Partnership. She has wide experience of primary care and community development, has held several national roles, and was seconded by the Scottish Government in 2003 to work with the World Health Organisation in Copenhagen. Her other interests include international travel, the arts, gardening and has two German Shorthaired Pointers.

David Eardley, Treasurer

David has lived in West Lothian all his life, joined the Board in 2010 and is a user representative. He is an ICAS qualified chartered accountant and works with a range of public sector clients, including health boards and further education colleges. His hobbies include football, golf, keeping fit and travel.

 

Robert McGill, Secretary

Robert is a user representative, joined the Board in 2007 and has been Secretary since 2008. For the past 11 years he has been a frequent user of WLL’s facilities, particularly Linlithgow. Since joining the Board in 2007 he has served as a User and Business representative applying the skills gained in a career with a multi-national power company and latterly as a self employed consultant. 

 

 

 Robert Taylor

  

Robert is an employee representative and joined the Board in June 2011. He has worked at various locations within the company which have included Xcite Linlithgow Leisure Centre, Xcite Armadale Swimming Pool and is now currently working at Xcite Livingston Leisure Centre as Facility Manager. His interests include spending time with his family and playing football and golf. 

 

 

 David Fitzpatrick, Health and Safety Director

David is an employee representative and joined the Board in 2008. He is based at Xcite Livingston as Health and Fitness Duty Manager, and previously worked at Xcite Bathgate for 6 years.

 

 

Fraser Calderwood

Fraser is an employee representative, joined West Lothian Leisure in February 2009 as the Wet side Duty Manager at Linlithgow Leisure Centre. He has a wide range of experience from working in the Public, Private and Voluntary sectors. Throughout his time with West Lothian he has worked on a range of projects including organising a range of health and fitness events for local schools, is a Pool Lifeguard trainer and has a keen interest in championing excellent customer care. His interests include climbing, snowboarding and swimming.

 

Cllr Jim Walker

 

West Lothian Councillor Jim Walker (SNP) joined the Board in 2007 and is Councillor for Bathagte. He is Executive Councillor for Culture and Leisure and Chair of Bathgate Local Area Committee.  Jim is also Chair of the Culture and Leisure Policy Development and Scrutiny Panel and Vice-Chair of the Education Policy Development and Scrutiny Panel.  

 

Cllr Martyn Day

West Lothian Councillor Martyn Day (SNP) joined the Board in 2009 and is Councillor for Linlithgow. He is the Executive Portfolio Holder for Development and Transport and the Chairperson for the Local Area Committee and the Development and Scrutiny Panel.

 

 

Cllr John Cochrane

West Lothian Councillor John Cochrane (Action to Save St John’s Hospital) joined the Board in 2007 and is Councillor for Livingston North. He is Chair of West Lothian Licensing Committee, a member of the Community Health and Care Partnership Committee and a Director of Lothian Health Board.

 

  

Neil Gorman

 Neil is a user representative and joined the Board in June 2011. He has been a frequent user of WLL's facilities, particularly Craigswood and Broxburn, for over 10 years. As a regular user along with his family he looks to bring his experiences of using WLL's facilities to the board. Neil is also a local businessman and can help by bringing his experiences of working within the local business community to the board also.

 

 

Hannah O’Shea-Herriot

Hannah is a User Representative and joined the Board in December 2011. She has a background in leisure, sport and physical activity and has worked in many related sectors. She both works and lives in West Lothian and is a regular user of many Xcite facilities. She hopes to bring her experience within the sport and leisure industry and her knowledge of being a varied activity user to the Board.
